Watch an Apollo Asteroid LIve

We've talked about Apollo asteroids before.  These are asteroids inside Earth's orbit.  You can see one this Sunday if you'd like!  You don't even need a telescope to do it.  All you need is a computer with internet access.

Sunday night, July 22, Asteroid 2002 AM31 will make a close fly by of Earth.  By close fly by, I'm meaning a mere 3.2 million miles.  Not Hollywood material, but close in space terms.  This asteroid is about the size of a city block.

Want to see it?  Just tune into the SLOOH Space Camera at 7:30 EST.  I've never checked out this site before, but my initial looks at it just now seem pretty cool.

On a side note, if I hear another person talk about how wonderful it is for teachers to have 3 months off in the summer, I might just blow a gasket. Granted, teachers don't work for 2 months over the summer, but we also don't get paid for it either!   I'm working two jobs over the summer to make up for it.  I actually am looking forward to August so that my work schedule can slow down!

Well, darn. I had car problems and by the time I got home, I was able to see only 2 minutes. It looks like a cool site, though. Anybody else ever go to this site?
