Using the chart, I learned that my daughter will have a birth totem of the Salmon. That's the same as my oldest son. Too bad. If she had waited a few more days she would be a Bear, like my youngest son and my wife. Me? I'm a Snake. I don't think I'll tell my wife, she hates snakes with a passion. Here are the different totems:

Deer - May 21 - June 20
Woodpecker - June 21 - July 21
Salmon - July 22 - August 21
Bear - August 22 - Sept 21
Crow - September 22 - Oct. 22

Otter - Jan. 20 - Feb. 18
Wolf - Feb. 19 - March 20

I wouldn't necessarily have thought of myself as a bear, but upon reflection, it's not unsuitable.

The birth totems based on birthdays is something that I found by accident and a few web pages had the same-ish information, so I am assuming it is true. My Native American mythology is a little shaky.
So, what type of novel are you writing?
The current one is mainstream contemporary fiction set in Omaha, Nebraska, but the last one was a fantasy. I drew from several world mythologies for that one. I found your blog when researching one of the monsters from Greek mythology (I forget which one).
